Description:
Out of the rare production of Carrera GT Speedster's in 1959 (32 total), seven cars came with pushrod engines rather than the four cams. Four of these were delivered to the Block dealership in Oakland, California. The four Block pushrod GTs were ordered as a group (serial numbers 84930 to number 84933) this car being the last of the four. These Block GTs were very different from anything else in 1959, and not simply by virtue of their 1600 engines. All four cars were painted silver with a matching silver roll bar. These cars were fitted with normal brakes, steel wheels, as well as a standard fuel tank. The interiors featured the GT carpeting and aluminum seats. The openings in the body for the oil tanks and oil lines were never used. They were based on the GT bodies from the factory (aluminum hood, doors and decklid). Camber compensators were installed under the Block GTs as well. Additionally, the six louvers in the decklid allowed cool air into the engine bay, and the four GTs came with removable headlight screens. This is literally one of the rarest speedsters every made. The car comes from a Porsche collector with a terrific story and fully documented. #84933 was restored Weldon Scrogham (G&W Motorwerkes) and is featured in the book 356 Carreras.
