Description:
These "Split-Windshield" cars, given by their divided windshields, bumpers which attached directly to the body-work and a limited application of extraneous trim signify the original production Porsche's. Split Windows were produced during two years at the new factory in Stuttgart in 1950 and 1951 respectively. 598 Cars were built in 1950 and 1160 built in 1951. That amounts to only about 1758 known cars total. Rare to say the least. This is a well known example in the Porsche Community (those in the know), #11260 was delivered brand new to Schmidt and Koch in Bremen Germany. The car is painted it's original Maroon (interior was not recorded at the factory). We are finishing up the details on this car (installing the proper exhaust-and proper oil temp gauge). The car just arrived from Mr. Birch (the man when it comes to getting split windows details correct). More information to come-We're dog tired and things have been crazy here at the Scholars since getting back from the LA Porsche Literature/Swap Meet! I will post some pictures (as requested) of some recently sold ultra rare Porsches that didn't even make it to our site. Thanks to all that shared their wisdom and support at the show!-Cam Ingram/Kevin Watts
